The Asia Forum in collaboration with the Southeast Asia Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence and Victoria University of Wellington’s Enabling Our Asia-Pacific Trading Nation Distinctiveness Theme, invite you to a discussion led by Denis Win Thein.
Denis Win Thein was born in Burma and migrated to New Zealand in 1976 together with his family. He worked in the media industry for 9 years with the INL Group in Wellington. Denis started as an Apple distributor in Myanmar in 1994 and won the largest technology partnership for Apple in Asia at that time to supply and support Myanmar Ministry of Education.
Denis has worked with many companies and organisations from New Zealand and other countries for technology and other investments in Myanmar. He also established two large English language schools in partnership with Myanmar MOE.
Denis was involved in developing the Myanmar Horticulture sector in 2002 and in partnership with New Zealand and Australian companies, introduced modern methods and technologies. He also helped set up the Myanmar Fruit and Vegetable Growers Federation under the Myanmar Chamber of Commerce, which is now well established.
