Participant of the Vietnam Business Challenge programme, April 2019
Vietnam was a huge culture shock! I went into this trip, wondering if business studies was for me and came out with a new-found passion and a whole lot of knowledge that I am eager to put to use. I also loved learning about the culture of the city and trying the unique street food.
Vietnam opened my eyes to a whole new perspective on business. I was amazed by how much I learnt on this trip. I learned how important the business culture is for businesses entering into the Vietnamese market and how it can ‘make or break’ their business. Throughout the trip, I also learned that starting a business in another country isn’t as daunting as it seems. The key is to take the time to do a lot of market research and to find a network of people like NZTE to help you set up your business.
I am super excited to apply my newly-acquired knowledge to my business in Wellington. The trip gave me so many new ideas to explore that I would never have thought of before the trip. Although I may not expand my current business into Vietnam or Southeast Asia, who knows what the future holds?
I’d love to once again thank SEA CAPE and the Young Enterprise Scheme for this amazing opportunity. I’ve learned so much about business and about myself and I’m so grateful for the experience.
