To celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN, SEA CAPE partnered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to bring out leaders from ASEAN universities, research institutes and businesses to undertake a series of briefings and public seminars throughout 2018 and 2019.
The purpose of the ASEAN@50 Fellowship Programme was to build mutual knowledge and understanding between New Zealand and ASEAN while also strengthening New Zealand's relations with the region. The initiative is consistent with the goals of the People Strategy of the ASEAN/NZ Strategic Partnership and the Plan of Action 2016-2020 to enhance a better understanding between ASEAN and New Zealand. It also aligns with key objectives of the SEA CAPE to broaden and deepen understanding of ASEAN and its constituent member nations in New Zealand.
